At Mills River Presbyterian Church, our faith is centered in the love and grace of God—Creator, Christ, and Holy Spirit—one God who forms, saves, and sustains all creation. We trust that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, not something we earn, and that Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection bring healing and new life not only to individuals but also to communities and systems in need of transformation. We hold the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as inspired and authoritative for faith and life, while also believing that God continues to speak through them as we grow, question, and interpret in the light of today’s world. We celebrate two sacraments—Baptism and Communion—which remind us that we belong to God and to one another.
We believe the Church is called to be the Body of Christ: diverse, compassionate, curious, and committed to loving and serving our neighbors near and far. As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we joyfully affirm people of all genders, sexual orientations, identities, cultures, and backgrounds as full participants and leaders in the life of the church. Our faith moves us toward justice, especially alongside those who are poor, oppressed, or overlooked—the last, the lost, the least, and the left out. Our worship blends tradition with creativity and speaks honestly to the joys and challenges of our world, resisting legalism and making room for questions, doubt, and discovery. We are a “big tent” people, believing that unity is found not in sameness but in the beautiful variety of God’s beloved community.
