At Mills River Presbyterian Church, serving our community is at the heart of who we are. Through a variety of local mission efforts, we seek to share God’s love with our neighbors, provide support for those in need, and build meaningful connections that strengthen our community.
MRPC Pantry
Every Tuesday from 3–5 pm in the CE Building (the brick house in the church’s front yard), our community pantry is open to all. Visitors are invited to receive food, household items, and first-aid supplies with dignity and love. On the second Sunday of each month, our congregation brings items forward during worship to help restock the pantry. You can find the current list of needed items in the church foyer.
Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM)
Throughout the year, we collect non-perishable food items and clothing to support IAM. This ministry provides emergency relief to Henderson County residents experiencing financial crisis, offering food, clothing, financial assistance, guidance, and referrals in an atmosphere of compassion and respect. For more information, visit https://www.iam-hc.org/.
Transformation Village (ABCCM)
On the third Friday of each month, volunteers from MRPC cook and serve lunch at Transformation Village, a ministry of ABCCM. This transitional housing program serves single women, mothers with children, and female veterans experiencing homelessness in Buncombe County. Through education, skill-building, and supportive services, Transformation Village offers stability, healing, and a fresh start for women and children, helping them move toward sustainable housing and self-determination. The Dollar Club
One important thing about us is living generously as an act of worship and gratitude. To worship is to assign worth — to recognize someone created in the image of God as worthy of honor and value. Scripture teaches us that when we feed the hungry, clothe the needy, or visit those in prison, we are doing it as unto Jesus Himself.
Each Sunday, we count every person who joins us, in person and online, and take a total for the month. For every attendee, we set aside one dollar. If 350 people gather with us, we dedicate $350 to support a family within our community who is experiencing hardship.
Through this simple act, we worship God by valuing people. We declare that they are worthy of care, compassion, and attention.
Join the Dollar Club: Becoming part of the Dollar Club costs just one dollar. Give a dollar for yourself and a dollar for each member of your family. Together, those single dollars become powerful. We would love to partner with you. You might be amazed at what our dollars, combined, can accomplish.
If you would like to nominate someone to receive support from the Dollar Club — or if you need assistance yourself — please let us know.
Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families
Black Mountain Home provides a safe, nurturing Christian environment for children who are dependent, neglected, abused, homeless, or unable to live with their families. As a private, not-for-profit organization affiliated with the Presbytery of Western North Carolina and the PC(USA), the Home’s mission is to glorify God by caring for children and families in need. For more information, visit http://www.blackmountainhome.org.
Boy Scout Troop & Cub Scout Pack
MRPC proudly sponsors three Scout troops: Boy Scout Troop #624, Cub Scout Pack #624, and Girl Scout Troop #40025. These programs encourage youth development, leadership, and community engagement. Please contact the church for information on connecting with Scouting leaders and activities.

At Mills River Presbyterian Church, you don’t have to have it all figured out to belong. We are a community that listens, learns, worships, and serves together with open hearts. Whoever you are, whatever your story, you are invited to be part of this journey of faith, justice, and love.
