Giving back to our community is an integral part of who we are at MRPC. Here are a variety of local programs we support:
Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM)
All during the year, we collect items to support IAM, such as non-perishable food items and clothing. IAM’s mission is to provide emergency relief to Henderson County residents who are in financial crisis by offering food, clothing, funds, guidance, and referrals in an atmosphere of compassion and respect.
We have containers throughout the church where you may place non-perishable food items or clothing. There’s also a monthly checklist of special contribution needs posted on the bulletin board in the foyer area. For more information, visit https://www.iam-hc.org/.
5 Cents a Meal
Nickels, pennies, dimes, and quarters — they all add up to supporting those in need. Our “5 Cents a Meal” collection is taken during the last Sunday of each month during worship service. The collected funds support anti-hunger programs locally, regionally, and internationally.
Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families
Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families is a safe, supportive, Christian environment for children who are dependent, neglected, abused, homeless or who otherwise cannot live with their families. The Home is a private, not-for-profit organization affiliated with the Presbytery of Western North Carolina and the Presbyterian Church (USA). The mission of Black Mountain Home is to glorify God by caring for children and families. For more information visit http://www.blackmountainhome.org.
Boy Scout Troop & Cub Scout Pack
MRPC sponsors two Scout troops: Boy Scout Troop #624, which meets on the church property on Monday evenings at 7:00 PM; and Cub Scout Pack #624, which meets on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM. Please contact the church to get connected with Scouting leaders, as Scouting activities vary.
Habitat for Humanity – Henderson County
With a swing of a hammer or the swoosh of a paintbrush, our MPRC members regularly participate in building projects for Habitat for Humanity in Henderson County. We volunteer to make life better for others in our community by helping to create affordable housing. For more information, visit www.habitat-hvl.org.
