WOW! Worship on Wednesdays

Starting on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Mills River Presbyterian Church and Holy Family Episcopal Church in Mills River will jointly introduce a new Christian family program called WOW! – Worship on Wednesdays. The weekly 6 – 7:30 pm event will include dinner, fun, and activities for families throughout the Henderson County area.

Held in the Fellowship Hall of Mills River Presbyterian Church, the every Wednesday evening event is free to the public. Following the meal, children in grades kindergarten to fifth grade separate into one group in our CE building while youth in grades six to twelve participate in another group. Team leaders have discussions, crafts, music and other faith-based activities planned each week for the children. While children are at after-dinner workshop sessions, adults will enjoy relaxing conversations and fellowship.

Reservations are not needed for WOW. All MRPC church members and friends are encouraged to attend the weekly dinners to interact with the families and join the fun. While dinners are free, a suggested donation of $5 per person, with a cap of $20 per family, is appreciated. Guardians of children will be requested to sign participation forms.

“We’re creating a respite for families mid-week with a shared meal and fellowship,” says Rev. Tracey Kelly with the Holy Family Episcopal Church in Mills River. “This is a type of intergenerational Vacation Bible School, but on a weekly basis. Parents gain a much-needed break and can unite with each other while children come together to work on faith projects and interact.”
