Rev. Megan McMillan

Megan grew up in Columbia, SC where she was very involved in her church at a young age. She graduated from Presbyterian College with a B.A. in Christian Education and Religion in 2009. While in college, she worked at Montreat Conference Center where she first began to fall in love with the Western North Carolina mountains. Upon graduation, she moved back to Columbia serving two different congregations as their Director of Youth Ministries for several years. She received her Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2019. While in seminary, she served as the Chaplain Intern at Presbyterian Mo-Ranch Assembly in Hunt, TX. Upon graduation, she served as an Admissions Associate at Austin Seminary. Most recently, she served as the Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, FL.
In July of 2022, Megan began her called ministry here at Mills River Presbyterian Church in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. She has one rescue pup, Cooper, and enjoys hiking, biking, live music shows, and an early morning cup of hot tea on her balcony.
For Megan, church has always been the place that has made her feel seen, heard, and loved more than any other space she has ever been in. She is called to make the places in which she serves feel as if it’s a space for all to feel seen, heard, and loved.
Greetings!
Thank you for visiting the Mills River Presbyterian Church website.
I’m grateful that you’ve taken a moment to learn about our community, and I hope you’ll join us in person sometime soon.
When you step into MRPC, you’ll find a church community that genuinely loves being together. From our littlest ones to our longtime members, we share life side by side—worshiping, learning, serving, and supporting one another with joy and care.
As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), we are committed to embodying God’s expansive welcome. We’re an open and affirming community, and we embrace each person with gratitude for the gifts and stories they bring. Whether you have lived in Mills River for decades or just moved to North Carolina, there is a place for you here.
Our life together is full and rich: monthly lunches and small-group gatherings, outings and travel opportunities, and beloved annual traditions like the Blessing of the Pets, Puzzlefest, Christmas Cookie Walk, congregational workdays, and Halloween pumpkin carving and Trunk-or-Treat. These moments offer friendship, connection, and plenty of laughter.
As you explore our website, you’ll notice the many ways we worship and serve. Music is an important part of our life together, with opportunities to join our Adult Choir or Handbell Choir. Families will find space to grow in faith through service projects, learning opportunities, and intergenerational fellowship. For those passionate about outreach, we partner locally to address hunger and housing insecurity through interfaith and ecumenical efforts—including Habitat for Humanity—and we support education initiatives with our partner church in Coyolate, Guatemala.
A key expression of our call to serve is the MRPC Food Pantry, a community-led ministry that grew out of the needs we witnessed after Hurricane Helene. The pantry provides food every Tuesday from 3-5pm with dignity and compassion to our neighbors and stands as a reminder that we are called to care for one another in concrete, hopeful ways.
If you have questions or want to know more, please reach out. We would be honored to welcome you into the worship, work, and witness of Mills River Presbyterian Church—a community grounded in Christ’s love and eager to share that love with our neighbors.
Blessings,
Rev. Megan McMillan
