For over 20 years, the Presbytery of Western North Carolina has partnered with communities in Guatemala, focusing on education and public health to empower children and families.
Our Partner Church: Monte Horeb Presbyterian Church
At Mills River Presbyterian Church, we are honored to partner with Monte Horeb in Coyolate, Guatemala. Each year, our congregation provides scholarships that help children attend school and continue their education. While school is technically free, many families face costs that prevent children from attending—or advancing beyond elementary grades.
Our scholarships—about $100 per child, per year—open doors to learning, growth, and the hope of a brighter future. Through this support, children in Coyolate can dream bigger and pursue opportunities they might not otherwise have.
Connecting in Person
In 2026, a group from MRPC will travel to Guatemala to visit Monte Horeb. This trip will deepen our partnership, allow us to experience the community firsthand, and celebrate the incredible impact of our congregation’s generosity.
Through prayer, giving, and relationship, we are connected across continents—working together to share God’s love, support education, and inspire hope for a brighter tomorrow.
